Thursday October 7th (We rode ours bikes today)

Port Townsend
50 feet
Yes this was our shortest move yet, the site we were in last night had been reserved for this evening so we had to move one site to the left. This morning we went for a bike ride to Fort Worden State Park. It wasn’t too far from the camp but it seemed to be uphill the whole way; we felt that we got a decent cardiac workout. We rode out to Point Wilson Lighthouse; it has been automated since 1976.
In the afternoon we went for a guided tour around the NW Maritime center. The Maritime center was build where there was a fuel storage depot, and it took 10 years to move the contaminated soils from the site before they could begin building the center. We saw a couple of wooden boats being restored in the workshop. Port Townsend has the oldest wooden boat festival. The school children in the area get to come to class at maritime centers shop and learn and work on wooden boat building
